Fantasy football week 10: Start’em and sit’em

Week 10 provides some huge games for playoff contenders in the NFC. St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Seattle are all 4-4 and could still potentially make the playoffs. However, the road to the postseason looks much brighter at 5-4 as opposed to 4-5, and losses this week could crush team morale.

Here are our picks for who you should start on your fantasy team going into week 10:

Start: Allen Robinson, WR Jacksonville

Robinson is starting to transform into a legitimate leading wide receiver in the NFL. Last week, the second year pro came out on top in his one on one matchup with Darrelle Revis. Robinson caught six passes for 121 yards. This week, Jacksonville will take on the Ravens, who are giving up the fourth most passing yards in the league. Robinson should have no problem using his large frame to bully Baltimore’s cornerbacks.

Start: LeGarrette Blount, RB New England

Blount has been a solid performer this season, but splitting time with Dion Lewis has negatively affected his production. Lewis went down with an ACL injury last week and will miss the rest of the season. None of the other running backs on the Patriot’s roster have been able to earn significant playing time, so Blount should see the majority of the carries this Sunday against a Giants defense that ranks in the bottom half of the NFL against the run.

Start: Cam Newton, QB Carolina

Newton has been the most dangerous offensive weapon for the undefeated Panthers this season, burning opposing defenses with his arm and his legs. Last week, Newton carved up the Packers’ defense, throwing for 297 yards and accounting for four total touchdowns. Carolina faces the 2-6 Titans in week 10, and Newton should be able to move the ball at will.

Sit: Ronnie Hillman, RB Denver

The Broncos’ running back situation is a mess. Hillman and C.J. Anderson have both started games, but neither back has found much success. Hillman has been inconsistent and last week, managing only one yard on seven carries. He is listed as probable for week ten with a thigh injury, and although he will get carries, his play has been too inconsistent to trust him in your starting lineup.

Sit: Russell Wilson, QB Seattle

Wilson has been one of the most disappointing fantasy players of the season thus far, accounting for only nine touchdowns on the season. Seattle’s week 10 matchup with Arizona will not serve as an opportunity to bust out of his slump. Arizona is the third best defense in the NFL in terms of yards allowed, and star defensive backs Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu will make it difficult for Wilson to throw the ball.

Sit: Jeremy Maclin, WR Kansas City

Maclin has underwhelmed for Kansas City after signing a huge contract in the off-season. The former Eagle has only managed two touchdowns so far this season, and his yards per game have decreased in each of his last three contests. This week, the Chiefs will travel to Denver to take on the Broncos and the league’s toughest pass defense. Even without the suspended Aqib Talib, Denver’s defense is still very formidable.

Can Seattle get a win against Arizona and keep their playoff hopes alive? Will Denver’s running game find its legs against Kansas City? Feel free to leave a comment or find me on Twitter @Andrew_Morse4
