Street Style Spotlight: Seattle Fashion
Seattle is known for rain, clouds, and coffee. With such a dreary exterior, outsiders rarely think of Seattle as a fashion hotspot. Dreary weather cannot hold back Northwest fashionistas, though. Even through the rain and clouds, Seattleites still manage to show off an eclectic look, unique to the area.
Seattle street style combines an outdoorsy aesthetic with a modern, put together vibe, and of course, a touch of hipster fashion. We found a unique blog called “Seattle Street Style,” which follows Seattle fashion in every neighborhood. As the blog says, “high fashion and profound individual style can be found in every neighborhood of this city. All facets of Seattle fashion ought to be noticed and given recognition.”
We will look at a three distinct locations in Seattle to see the different style that Seattle is known for.
University District. Bustling with college students, University District is the hub of coffee shops, cheap Thai food, and inspiring greatness.
This student has done a great job of dressing for unpredictable Seattle weather. Dressing in layers is an absolute must, and she pulls it off effortlessly by adding a bit of flare to her outfit with a cheetah print coat.
Capitol Hill. The trendiest spot in Seattle, Capitol Hill is progressive and teeming with hip young adults. This is the best place to go out and get a drink, or to just sit back and relax in a coffee shop.
This couple is a great representation of Capitol Hill. They are young, chic, but a little edgy.
The boy’s shirt is a favorite style among Seattle hipsters, and the girl’s high waisted shorts are both fun and flirty, while being practical for walking around the city.
Downtown. The spot of business people as well as trendy shop owners, downtown Seattle has a much more polished vibe.
This man has taken a perfect office outfit, and made it more casual by trading his slacks for shorts.
Downtown fashion is all about looking clean, sleek, and put together without the “in your face” style that can be seen in other large cities.
