Loving Lilac: Spring’s Favorite Flower is Summer’s Favorite Trend

Loving Lilac: Spring’s Favorite Flower is Summer’s Favorite Trend

Lilac is a timeless color that has gained a lot of popularity this summer, becoming this season’s must-have color. The purple shade is not only a pleasant addition to any wardrobe, but it goes well with most skin tones as well.

Lilac is the perfect summer color because it is bright and festive without being obnoxious. In addition, any lilac colored clothing you purchase will work well in the fall as well.

If you usually stick to neutral colors, try incorporating a few lilac accessories to your outfits. Lilac shoes, handbags, and nails will pair nicely with black, white, and tans.

Some of our favorites shoes are these pointed wedges from ASOS. They are great to pair with summer dresses, especially for a formal event because they are sleek and comfortable enough to keep you going all night. Try wearing them with a black or white dress to make the heels stand out.

For a more subtle pop of color try painting your nails lilac. A great nail color is this one we found from Essie called St. Lucia Lilac.

If you are looking to go all out and commit to a bold pop of color then ditch the accessories and look for staple pieces in this lovely shade. For summer, try something fun and flirty that you can’t get away with other times of the year.

If you want something a little more formal that will transition well into colder months we absolutely adore this lilac colored Brigitte Bailey “Demri” dress that we found at Zappos for only $70. The cut on this dress hugs all the right parts, which means it looks great on curvy body types. Pair it with a nude heel or black pumps, and you are sure to get compliments all night.

The beauty of lilac shouldn’t be limited to just clothing. Lilac flowers themselves are some of the most unique. Although they usually bloom in the spring, check out your local home and garden store to see what types of flowers they have in season. A pop of purple will add a lovely touch to your summer centerpiece.

Don’t worry about limiting your search to just lilac flowers, any purple hue will look great surrounded by the summer sun. Lilac tones are often unexpected in the warmer seasons, which makes them even more interesting.
