Summer 2015 festivals announce lineups
One festival down, many more to go! Are you ready? Coachella is now just a memory, but the summer has yet to begin. More festivals are just around the corner, and music lovers can count on seeing some similar acts — no matter where the music takes them.
The next big festival taking place will happen in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroo weekend is over June 11 through 14, summer heat, humidity, and all! Later in the same month, Summerfest will span over the last two weekends of the month. The festival is schedule to take place June 24 to 28 and the succeeding weekend, June 30 to July 5.
The festivals to conclude the summer of 2015 have concert-goers migrating west. HARD Summer will take place at the one and only Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, California from Aug. 1 and 2. To escape the Southern California heat, buy a ticket to Outside Lands, which starts on Friday, Aug. 7, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 9, in the great Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California.
Traveling from one place to another is enough to keep someone busy the entire summer. There are a few artists that have to make travel arrangements accordingly, due to the numerous lineups on which their names are listed. Florence and the Machine, Hozier, Alabama Shakes, and Belle and Sebastian are all shared between Coachella and Bonnaroo. In case you missed your chance to go to the desert this year, just hop on a plane to Tennessee, and you’ll see a very similar lineup.
Kendrick Lamar will be making appearances at Summerfest, Bonnaroo, and Outside Lands. Fans can bet on hearing some new material from his newest album, “To Pimp A Butterfly,” which dropped in March. The Weeknd will also be in Pomona at HARD Summer, a few months after their set at Coachella. Psychedelic band Tame Impala began their summer in Indio and will end festival season in San Francisco at Outside Lands. Electronic duo, Odesza, mirrors the same itinerary. Kaskade took the stage at Outside Lands in 2013, Bonnaroo in 2014, and Coachella 2015. Adding to the list of big festivals, Kaskade will also perform at Summerfest.
Other than the aforementioned similarities, Summerfest, HARD Summer, and Outside Lands all have lineups curated differently to cater to more specific music genres. Labeled as “The World’s Largest Music Festival,” Summerfest is also featuring well-known rock bands The Rolling Stones, Kings of Leon and Linkin Park. HARD Summer has more of an electronically inspired lineup with Chromeo, The Glitch Mob, and Die Antwood scheduled to perform sets that weekend. Lastly, Outside Lands holds a mixed-genre feel to its lineup while also hosting acts across all music generations. Classic musicians Elton John and Billy Idol are schedule to appear as well as newly popular artists, Sam Smith and Mumford & Sons.
