Before Summer Ends: Live Music Must-Sees

With only about a month and half left of summer, it is time to make sure you squeeze in as many summer concerts as possible. If Bonaroo, Firefly, and Electric Forest were not enough to fill your music needs, here are some other acts that you must catch before the summer ends!


August 1 – Lollapalooza

On August 1st, Lollapalooza hits the Chicago area once again. Dozens of amazing artists will be there including Arctic Monkeys, Bombay Bicycle Club, Lykke Li, Foster the People, and The Temper Trap.

August 2 – Arcade Fire

If you are on the west coast, Arcade Fire will be playing at The Forum in Inglewood, CA. Arcade Fire is an indie band from Canada with a unique rock sound. Openers for the show include The Unicorns, Dan Deacon, and Steve Mackey. Price: > $40



August 7 – Temples

Temples is a psychedelic rock band from England, with a sound that can be compared to Beatles and Tame Impala. Temples is playing with Here We Go Magic, and Spires at Pier 84 in New York City. Price: Free


St. Vincent (

August 9 – St. Vincent

If you want to catch one of the hottest acts in electronic pop, make sure you do not miss St. Vincent at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park. San Fermin is scheduled to open up, and the show is sure to be a great time. Price: Free





August 16Hot August Music Festival

A slue of talented artists will be playing at this years Hot August Music Festival in Cockeysville, MD. Bands include Old Crow Medicine Show, Dr. Dog, and Nickel Creek. Get your tickets quick because they are selling fast! Price: $59


August 22 – Hieroglyphics

If you happen to be in the city of brotherly love on August 22, check out the Oakland based rap group Hieroglyphics at the Theatre of the Living Arts in Philadelphia. Casual, Opio, and Pep Love will also be playing that night. Price: > $40

August 28 – Kings of Leon

The legendary rock group, Kings of Leon, will be playing in New York City at the PNC Bank Arts Center. They are sure to put on a fantastic rock show, alongside Young the Giant, and Kongos. Price: $35




August is your last chance to catch these and other amazing acts before the dog days of summer are over and once again we head back to school, and the hustle and bustle of Autumn.
